Resident Rotation
Every hospital with a training program is allowed to assign medical residents to cover the house during off hours and on weekends. Usually this done through a rotation which avoids any resident working more than 10 hours at a stretch in violation of medical school rules and federal regulations.
A Resident who is a Jehovah Witness informs the group that Saturday is his religious day for church and he would not like to work that particular day. There are just enough residents to cover all the shifts and Saturday such that everyone gets an equal assignment if he is included in the schedule.
What do you do?
1. Grant him his request
2. Enforce his participation in the schedule
3. Let the resident group decide among themselves
4. Remove him from the program
Pick only one answer.
